How do we manage industrial data?

How do we leverage data to help companies achieve their business and sustainability goals?

AVEVA’s secure industrial cloud platform and applications enable businesses to harness the power of their information and improve collaboration with customers, suppliers and partners.

Over 20,000 enterprises around the world rely on AVEVA to help them engineer efficiently and optimize operations. Named in 2022 by Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies, AVEVA supports customers with open solutions and the expertise of more than 6,400 employees, 5,000 partners and 5,700 certified developers. AVEVA is headquartered in Cambridge, England, and has operations around the globe.

AVEVA releases new products as part of a larger data infrastructure. “It’s not always just about new products,” says Reena Bayley, Senior Manager Industry Marketing Chemicals. “ It’s about a layering of solutions. We’re talking about layering AI and machine learning on top of a data infrastructure to generate operational excellence and greater efficiency monitoring things like energy consumption.”

Our goal is to ensure that chemical manufacturers are able to design their plants and their products better, operate more effectively and efficiently, maintain their existing assets better, and develop new ones when needed.

The AVEVA booth will complement presentations covering topics such as sustainability, asset reliability and digital transformation. “Our goal is to ensure that chemical manufacturers are able to design their plants and their products better, operate more effectively and efficiently, better maintain their existing assets, and develop new ones when needed,” says Reena Bayley, Senior Manager Industry Marketing Chemicals, AVEVA. “In the current economic climate, companies need to be more agile and resilient. AVEVA addresses the entire chemical lifecycle but through the pillars of digital transformation, asset reliability, and critical sustainability.”

Sean Gregerson, VP Asset Performance, AVEVA, will present a seminar titled “Increase Digital Reliability Using Industrial Generative AI.” In this session, AVEVA will outline the journey from concept to proven solution, shedding light on where the hype meets reality. Attendees will discover how Industrial Generative AI can improve performance, reliability, and sustainability in industrial operations.

“We’ll highlight some of the challenges confronting chemical manufacturers within their operations today,” says Gregerson. “We’ll explore the idea of this connected industrial economy, where data is its currency, and its collection, archiving, and transformation become the table stakes in the huge data explosion that’s occurring right now.”

Gregerson will share how digitally enabled technology can break down those silos that make up all aspects of the asset lifecycle, from design to operations to maintenance.

“We’re going to dive into generative AI, which can help us start to interpret the information available to us,” continues Gregerson. “We’ll drill into how generative AI works and how it can be applied, the industrial context, and the value that can be derived from this new technology. And we’ll explore the factors impacting success with industrial generative AI.”

Keith Chambers, VP for Manufacturing Solutions, and Reena Bayley, Senior Industry Marketing Manager, will team up to present “Build a Connected Future for the Chemical Industry.” In this session, they’ll explore how digital technologies can transform chemical manufacturing to create a connected future. Attendees will learn what smart factories are and the foundations of an industrial data fabric for chemical manufacturing and the role that AI can play.

“We’ll talk about the industrial data fabric; in other words, the underlying data platforms that you need to do smart manufacturing,” says Chambers. “This is where the AVEVA PI Data Infrastructure System can provide the data fabric that we need. Then we’ll discuss how to align your data platform with the operating model of the factory and how advanced analytics, visualization, collaboration, and knowledge sharing can be applied to the operation of the plant. We’ll also explore how to scale and sustain this for manufacturing before we talk about the connected future, the data fabric, the smart manufacturing services, and how they combine with the ecosystem of the chemical manufacturer.”

“We are moving towards a more connected industrial economy,” says Gregerson. “We can now move beyond small incremental changes to where we can achieve sustainability goals—the greenhouse gas targets, all those kinds of things—and operationalize them. You can now apply that technology to how you run a plant.”

AVEVA invested heavily in the PI System, a purpose-built data management platform that collects, stores, and manages sensor and time-series operations data via our integrated edge, on-premises and cloud products. PI is a significant component of the industrial data infrastructure that customers need to unlock the value of the data. During eChemExpo, the AVEVA team will share how the PI System can become a digital backbone that breaks down those silos across customers’ businesses—across that design, build, operate, and optimize and maintain the asset life cycle.

2023 saw the launch of AVEVA Connect, the industrial cloud platform that empowers users to securely connect and visualize their engineering and operations data, enabling collaboration with trusted partners and customers. AVEVA Connect brings disparate software systems together so that they operate seamlessly in the cloud, on-premises, or in hybrid environments (a mix of on-premises and cloud deployment). AVEVA is continuing to develop this platform and will showcase Connect at the expo booth.

While sustainability is high on the goal list for everyone, the journey for every company will be different. “We have a number of solutions, but in the end, we are there to support our customers and facilitate their journey towards where they want to get to on the sustainability path,” says Kumar. “We are here to help our customers along on their sustainability and digitalization journeys.”

As we move towards a more connected industrial economy, AVEVA is at the forefront of empowering chemical manufacturers to achieve their sustainability goals while enhancing operational efficiency.
