eChemExpo is normally held every two years in Kingsport TN. The next gathering is scheduled for April 17-18, 2024 with optional golf on April 16. . By way of background, the previous April 2022 gathering attracted over 200 exhibiting firms, a community of over 1200 registrants, over 80 PDH accredited seminars, two highly relevant panel discussions, two keynotes, a closing keynote and special featured sessions.

Your input on this strategy survey will help shape the development of the 2024 expo and conference which is attended by an expanding base of regional manufacturing, process industry, EPC and service related companies.

There is no provision for confidentiality in this survey but answers provided are used only by the Planning Team to develop the 2024 program.
Your Challenges (2024-2025)
1) What are the three to five most important challenges facing you or your group that will require equipment, materials, software and/or services to achieve your goals in 2024 and 2025?
2) If you could achieve quantum leap improvement in performance in at least one area in 2024-2025, what would that be?
3) What level of capital purchasing might you influence for 2024 and for 2025; and which capital purchasing areas are most important to you in terms of suppliers to be invited to exhibit and possibly speak in eChemExpo 2024.

Vision, Mission, Strategies
7) eChemExpo vision, mission and eight strategies are outlined below. Strategies 6. 7 & 8 are NEW. Strategies 2 & 3 are UPDATED. After reading through these items, you are asked to provide input on the strategies pertinent to your area.
VISION: To be the #1 multidisciplinary applied innovation Expo and Conference in the process industry

MISSION: To provide the optimum environment to exhibit and present the latest manufacturing technology, hardware and software; and for accelerating implementation of improved systems, technology and best practices.

STRATEGY 1. Conduct a broad range of stakeholder interviews and surveys, with manufacturing and support entities, to determine current challenges and their most important purchasing needs for 2024 & 2025.

STRATEGY 2 (UPDATED). Continue to expand base of multidisciplinary stakeholders. We have a long history of support from the chemical, mechanical, procurement and plant engineering disciplines and more recent engagement by the electrical community in 2016, the IT disciplines in 2018, and the Plastics Recycling community in 2022. Continue to build and expand participation by all these groups and add at least one additional community for 2024.

STRATEGY 3 (UPDATED). Increase regional and professional societies participation thru early engagement of these organizations starting say twelve to eighteen months in advance and expand the geographical footprint of the targeted entities.

STRATEGY 4. Continue to evaluate and search for applied innovation entities that might be interested in co-locating a regional meeting or workshop.

STRATEGY 5. Stimulate “quantum leap” goal setting to accelerate implementation of improved systems, technology and best practices.

New – STRATEGY 6. Continue efforts to incorporate Safety, Environment and Sustainability breakthroughs. Consider taking on a socially relevant project(s) that will make an impact.

New -STRATEGY 7. Covid resulted in eChemExpo being postponed 4 times between 2020 and 2022 and had a negative impact on attendance at the April 2022 gathering. Continue to look for ways to best assure solid attendance in 2024 and restore confidence by the exhibitor community that eChemExpo will be a value added investment in the years ahead.

New – STRATEGY 8. Continue efforts to transition eChemExpo to a new organizer (i.e, via Acquisition, Consortium, or TBD) who will assure that the value that eChemExpo provides to the local region will continue in the decades ahead.

7A) STRATEGY 1 (Stakeholder Interviews). Who in your organization should we conduct stakeholder interviews with to get more in depth information on recommended exhibitors and seminar topics?
(Note: Not all attendee stakeholders are manufacturers. EPC firms may participate. Not all exhibitors are manufacturers either; software firms for example sell IP and services, not manufactured goods)
7B) STRATEGY 2 (Expanding base of multidisciplinary stakeholders). Any recommendations?

1. Expand the base of the Plastics Recycling community

2 Expand already strong base of the Process Safety community to include Occupational Safety

3. Focus on a returning the once strong Laboratory Analytics community and continue strengthening the Process Analytics areas.
