AQUISITION PROSPECTUS PRE-QUALIFICATION SURVEY

eChemExpo was created in year 2000 and has evolved through a series of eleven gatherings mostly every other year. By many, eChemExpo is now regarded as the #1 multidisciplinary applied innovation event for the process industry.

Beginning April 15, 2021, eChemExpo founder, Peter Knox, in cooperation with selected Leadership Team Stakeholders are starting a search for entities interested in acquiring eChemExpo. In addition to a financial investment, major consideration will be given to the Acquirers envisioned approach to further develop eChemExpo in a way that will benefit long time participants and add value to the community of multidisciplinary stakeholders. This acquisition also includes the eChemExpo digital magazine, Applied Innovation … Powered by eChemExpo which was launched in 2016.

The purpose of this Survey is to help potential Acquirers best develop a Value Proposition for their organization. This will likely be an interactive process so feel free to schedule multiple calls to clarify any questions.
Current management plans to execute the upcoming October 19-20 eChemExpo event, which will be the 11th gathering since year 2000. Ideally, the new Aquirer can be at that event, announced during the Keynote address, and the transition process can be well underway beforehand. Note: Depending on the acceptability of proposals, eChemExpo management and the Leadership Review Team may or may not make a selection at this time. By way of background, the previous April 2018 gathering attracted some 200 exhibiting firms, a community of over 1340 registrants, 60 PDH accredited seminars and four highly relevant panel discussions.
Unique in its development cycle, each time, is an intensive stakeholder interview process to define real purchasing needs for participating user companies prior to each gathering. It starts with Executive Management and then progressed throughout the organization(s). For 2018 and again for 2021, over 100 stakeholders were interviewed each time. As such, the event reinvents itself for each event; this approach creates a flow of newly identified companies based on emerging real capital purchasing needs.

2) What do you need to know about eChemExpo to help determine if you are interested in proposing a potential acquisition? This pre-qualification process is the first step in helping determine the Value Proposition for your particular entity.
3) One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with eChemExpo recent events is to read the stories in APPLIED INNOVATION ... Powered by eChemExpo. Any questions about this? As part of the proposed Acquisition, how important is the Applied Innovation digital magazine piece?
Volume 1 of APPLIED INNOVATION is for 2016; Volume 2 is for 2018; and Volume 3 is for 2021. In the 2021 Volume there are 6 stories about the 2018 gathering and there will eventually be at least 14 feature stories about leading companies and what they are bringing to eChemExpo 2021.

Vision, Mission, Strategies
eChemExpo vision, mission and five strategies are outlined below. After reading through these items, you are asked to provide input on the five strategies. You are welcome to change any or all but the Acquisition Reviewers will be most interested in how your company is likely to add value going forward and what new and different approaches might be expected.
VISION: To be the #1 multidisciplinary applied innovation Expo and Conference in the process industry

MISSION: To provide the optimum environment to exhibit and present the latest manufacturing technology, hardware and software; and for accelerating implementation of improved systems, technology and best practices.

STRATEGY 1. Conduct a broad range of stakeholder interviews and surveys, with manufacturing and support entities, to determine current challenges and their most important purchasing needs for 2020 & 2021.

STRATEGY 2. Expand base of multidisciplinary stakeholders. We have a good history of support from the chemical, mechanical, procurement and plant engineering disciplines and more recent engagement by the electrical and IT disciplines. Continue to build and expand on participation by these groups.

STRATEGY 3. Increase regional and professional societies participation thru early engagement of these organizations starting say six to twelve months in advance and expand the geographical footprint of the targeted entities.

STRATEGY 4. Continue to evaluate and search for applied innovation entities that might be interested in co-locating a regional meeting or workshop.

STRATEGY 5. Stimulate “quantum leap" goal setting to accelerate implementation of improved systems, technology and best practices.
6) STRATEGY 1 (Stakeholder Interviews). Stakeholder Interviews are a key discriminator for why and how eChemExpo is able to reinvent itself each time with new and highly relevant exhibitors and seminar content. For 2018 and for 2020, over 100 interviews were conducted early in the development cycle. Is this approach something you would value or would your company use another approach determine relevant content?
(Note: Not all attendee stakeholders are manufacturers. EPC firms may participate. Not all exhibitors are manufacturers either; software firms for example sell IP and services, not manufactured goods)
7) STRATEGY 2 (Expanding base of multidisciplinary stakeholders). eChemExpo considers itself the top multidisciplinary applied innovation gathering in the process industry. Would you continue this tradition of multidisciplinary content, expand it, or focus on a narrower audience?
8) STRATEGY 3 (Increasing regional and professional society participation). We have been highly successful over the years in attracting a wide range of professional societies to consider eChemExpo their event. Would your organization likely continue this effort or use a different approach?
9) STRATEGY 4 (Co-locating other applied innovation entities). Any comments on this? If you are a magazine publisher and/or professional organization, consider which Magazines and/or Division would be consider co-sponsors.
(Note: Consider groups of about 20 to 100 in size that have good synergy with the expo/conference theme and focus areas)
10) STRATEGY 5 (Quantum leap aspirations). Our stakeholder surveys and executive level interviews ask people to identify the most important thing for them to accomplish within the two years following eChemExpo. This help us identify and prioritize the most important areas to focus on. Would your organization consider incorporating this or use another approach altogether to determine future content?
